PrintCop
JLP Computer Enterprises Corporation
August 11, 1990
Novell Advanced Netware versions 2.10 and above provide two
utilities to help user's customize their network printing
requirements. These utilities are PrintDef and PrintCon.
PrintDef is used to define the network printers, low level
printer functions, and higher level print modes, as well as
all the forms to be printed. Each user is then required to
define his or her print requirements using the PrintCon
utility.
For most users this is a difficult process. LAN managers must
therefore define all these jobs for each user. With PrintCon
Novell only provides a LAN manager the option of copying this
definition from one user to another.
There is no utility to replicate this information from one
user to a group of users, or to all users. PrintCop provides
the facility for a LAN manager to customize a definition for
one users and copy that information to a group of users or
all users. Thus resulting in saving considerable time and
energy for LAN managers.
Installation is very simple:
1) If you are updating from a previous version:
Delete all files in the PrintCop subdirectory.
goto step 5.
2) Create a subdirectory for the PrintCop program on your
network drive.
3) Assign the proper Trustee Rights for the new subdirectory.
4) Assign the proper rights to the MAIL subdirectory so that
users of the PrintCop utility can update all the required
custom print job information.
5) Copy the PrintZip.exe file (on your diskette) to the
PrintCop directory on your network.
6) Execute PrintZip.exe.
7) Delete Printzip.exe.

Outstanding Problems
1) Banner name UserID should be replaced with the copy to
UserID.
